The Danish city Holsterbro wants more naturists

Written by Peter Terp. Posted in Blog

On the beachRingkøbing and Skjern in Denmark had great protests against naturist areas – but Holsterbro seems to take a different approach. Holsterbro is going to brand 2 naturist beaches.

Municipality of Holstebro will now make an effort to lure German naturist to the beaches of North Husby on the west coast and Handbjerg in the fjord. In Denmark it is already legal to take a dip naked on all beaches as long as you don’t disrupt anybody. But at a meeting on Monday decided municipality’s commercial and tourism committee to market the two beaches as naturist beaches. They want to target audience primarily the many members of the German response to naturists, Freie Körper Culture.

A considerate peoples

Ringkøbing- Skjern has similar plans in Vedersoe, which incidentally is the nearest neighbor to the North Husby. But here the plans were put on hold after massive protests from local holiday home owners.

The chairman Søren Olesen from the Industry and Tourism Committee in Holstebro, does not believe that naturists will cause any problems.

Søren says “- The Germans are the most considerate people currently in existence, so I really can not imagine how it would ever be a problem. Ringkøbing- Skjern apparently tourists enough that it can be delicate with who you want up here. We have not in Holstebro, he says.”

Le Colombier, naturist camping in the middle of the French forests and medieval villages

Written by Peter Terp. Posted in Blog, Naturist resorts and accommodation

Picture from Le ColombierIt was getting late in the afternoon. The sun was baking us alive, through through the window of our car which didn’t have any airocnucondition, we were drenched with sweat on our bodies and our clothes was like glued to the seats which now had housed us in the two days it took us to the drive from Aarhus to St . Hermaine, Loire Valley – southwest of Paris, south of Normandy and Brittany, north of Bordeaux and 50 km. from the Atlantic Ocean.

But we were on the road, and even our 5-year-old boy, Sebastian was now so excited about what was going to happen, we all sat with wide open eyes and spoke the last few kilometers before we drove from the highway.

Ahead we had a week’s campout at naturist campsite Le Colombier, and although the sun was baking right now, we could see large dark clouds draw in over the golden cornfields and threaten to spoil the tent setup and everything we had been looking forward to.

We turned off at St. Hermaine, and with the phone set to Data Roaming we steered through the most picturesque French villages, left, right, right, left, and right around … The rain put tiny round beads on the windshield and we started to find our natural temperature-rent again. And before we knew it, we turned from knowing from Streetview home that we were on the right track, and managed to arrive at Le Colombier without rain anymore.

Le Colombier

The entrance to Le Colombier is a long road with tall trees and dense vegetation. Almost like disappearing into a deep dark forest, and suddenly discover that the woods are full of open spaces and naked people.

We had arrived too late to the reception should be open, but we were lucky that day. They had been busy that they, and had not had time to close. The welcome was warm and welcoming and we got to find us a good spot to pitch your tent and come back next morning to check-in.

We found ourselves a spot. With tent-back against the shrubbery and views over fields and forests, we had found our home for the next 7 days.

The evening opened a traveling circus, and when the lights came on and the clowns were laughing, we sat tired and tender in our tent opening and looked up into the most amazing star-covered sky. This should probably be fine.

7 days disappears fast at Le Colombier, St. Jermaine

Besides the many daily moments of fun and rituals when you are camping with his family, so we were placed in a natural area that gave us the opportunity to go for walks and explore the lakes and forest.

Le Colombier is huge and each tent pitch is huge and with lots of room to spread filling. So we did – when we have not had in the pool, or hang out downstairs in the restaurant, where we also took our dinner a couple of times.

The main buildings at Le Colombier is an old rustic farm which requires both a reception, restaurant, bar and grocery store. The place exudes authenticity when the old stone oven from the Medieval are lit with wood from the sorrounding forests and creates the heath for the homemade pizzas that are baked the same evening.

Here are all sorts of people, and not least many families characterized the area. Le Colombier had, however, to promote naturism in adolescents invited a Dutch young-naturist club to stay for 14 days. Apart from that it was a good idea to integrate the diversity of different age groups, it also created sleepless nights and loud music.

Discovering France

We found ourselves in an area of France that I never really heard of before. It was not because we could find so much about it in the books we had borrowed about the area. But France Tourism is well established and happily shares their many attractions in the area.

We went exploring every day and visited exciting medieval towns, castles, palaces and mansions. Every trip revealed new exiting places that wasn’t described anywhere. Once again we had to conclude that France has much more to offer than they manage to describe.

Several of the days we went to the beach. We drove to different beaches and found two naturist beaches. One was called La Terriers and it was wonderful, relaxed, wave-rich and the other was huge and unfortunately very windy. Both beaches were worth the drive, especially for the natural surroundings.

Suddenly, time had passed. Our tent took in water when it rained. The many sleepless nights made us tired and although we had an adventure and a wonderful holiday, we were pleased to drive home again.

We were driving home one afternoon, and with the sun in the neck, we took the trip back to Denmark. When we unpacked our clothes our backpacks and emptied the car – sand fell out of the car, pine cones and a spicy fragrance from the French forests … Best as you think it – a deep and adventurous, forests opens up with happy nudes 🙂

Thanks to Le Colombier for having opened their forest for us. Sebastian, Peter and Lise

Facebooks crazy censorship

Written by Peter Terp. Posted in Blog

Facebook censorshipWe all know that naked breast on Facebook is illegal, this could hurt somebody, but I don’t know how. If it is a breastfeeding mom they might look at the picture and say – hey this might actually be ok, otherwise it is porn.

If it is a video of a kitten let in fire, it is ok. Apparently Facebook don’t think it is a bad thing that two men pour lighter fluid over a kitten and set fire to the poor kitten. The burning kitten tries to run away, but ends its live in a plastic bag. Unfortunately this is the reality, not pure spin.

I think that is horrible, and lots of Facebook users think it is horrible too. Many Facebook users has actually complained about that video, but apparently Facebook thinks it is ok. They say that users can expect that kind of content when they are on a global social network.

I got news for you Facebook – here in Denmark, it is actually not illegal to show a naked body on a picture and it isn’t even illegal to take a skinny dip in the sea. Why is it that I can’t post a picture of a topless or naked woman in a non sexual act? Many people doesn’t have a big issue about a topless woman, but I do believe that many people have a problem with torturing animals.

Stop the misguided censorship Facebook

The summer heat creates nudists?

Written by Peter Terp. Posted in Blog

11967481_mThe summer heat has made people search for nudist beaches on Google.

There has been temperature records during the summer in Denmark, this has made people search a lot more for nudist beaches, according to Christine Sørensen from Google. Normally there is a rise in searches for nude beaches during July in Denmark, but this year it has been signifcantt – there has been the double amount of searhces compared to last year, says Christine.

“Dansk Naturist Union” DUN (Danish Naturist Organization) – say that they also have noticed that the danes has become more interested in going nude on beaches and camp sites. Herluf Nielsen from DUN tells that they see the same significan interest in going nude and that danes in general has become more interested.
He continues and tells that “He think that people in Denmark has become more open for nudism, because many Danes travel to Southern Europe during their summer holidays – where nudity on the beaches is much more common”.

Being a naturist my self and also living i Denmark – I think it is great news, that more people tend to be interested in nudism. I can only agree with Herluf that the liberal approach to being nude on the beach n countries like France, Spain, Portugal and Croatia probably has a great impact on the growing interest of nude beaches. Danes actually travel a lo, especially in the summer, where the mentioned countries is very popular countries to visit

The question is – Is it the summer heat that creates new nudists or is it the impact of our vacations?

7 reasons why I would love to visit Croatia as a naturist

Written by Peter Terp. Posted in Blog, Country guide

Rab - CroatiaAs always on this time of year – I am planning my summer vacation. This year I am fallen in love with Croatia. I have never visited the country before – but here are my 7 reasons why I would love to visit Croatia as a naturist.

Reason 1: Widely accepted

Naturism is widely accepted in Croatia. Croatian Adriatic coast is actually among the friendliest naturist destinations of the world.

This is not surprising when you know that the first naturist beach was opened on Paradise Beach on the island of Rab in 1934.

Reason 2: Lots of naturist beaches

There are plenty of beautiful beaches – I loooove a nice beach where I can relax with my family. Clear blue water just gives me something. Besides clear water many beaches in Croatia also seems to be in a very beautiful natural environment. I like when beaches is located in nature.

With more than 1000 islands it should be possible to find a beach which suites me 🙂

Reason 3: Relative cheap

It is relative cheap as a visitor in Croatia if you compare it to Denmark, France and other places in Europe.

On restaurants and in markets it should be cheaper than many other places around Europe especially compared to Denmark where I live.

Reason 4: Good accommodation possibilities

It should be possible to find naturist accommodation that fits me in Croatia. There are more than 30 official naturist resorts and beaches, besides that there is a large range of unofficial naturist accommodations.

In many countries around the world it can actually be hard to find a great place to stay nude – it seems like it should be fairly easy in Croatia (if there is something vacant).

Found this list of FKK campsites and beach resorts helpful

Reason 5: Lots to see

On pictures and in guide books it looks like there is a lot to do and see in Croatia.. I am pretty sure there is a lot of exciting culture, and a lot of wonderful nature to explore.

I like it when I can combine both beach, nature, culture and adventure on one trip. I would get bored if I stayed at the beach for a hole week. The exploring combined with a nice beach gives me the biggest satisfaction on a vacation. Especially if I can stay nude at the beach and on some of the small adventures.

Reason 6: Naturist sailing

I would love to go on a naturist sailing trip – I have never tried sailing nude and think it could be a very exciting adventure to explore. I am pretty sure that my family would find it interesting too.

I haven’t found many places on around the world that offer the possibilities to sail naked, especially if you’re not a captain yourself.

Reason 7: The weather

The weather in the summer period in Croatia is brilliant. There is good high temperatures and a lot of sunny hours. This a one thing that I prefer when going on a naturist vacation. The weeather is warmest in July and August, but also June and September has quit decent temperatures. I found info on Croatia Naturally very useful.

Have you visited Croatia? – Please write your opinion about the country

Where do you dream of going to on your next naturist vacation?

5 reasons why breastfeeding in public is ok

Written by Peter Terp. Posted in Blog

breasteedingThere seems to be an endless battle, about if it’s ok to breastfed a baby in public spaces. Well! – that is how it seems to be in Denmark anyway – and the war has just broken out again between two danish politicians.

Özlem Cekic is a danish politician who is trying to make et legal by law to breastfeed in public spaces, unfortunately there is a lot of narrow minded people who is against it. Here are some of the arguments against the law from Özlem Cekic Facebook page

– It is also natural to walk around naked. I personally have no desire to see other women’s breasts in public spaces. Even when they are breastfeeding, Pernille HS writes in one of the nursing hostile comments

– Ayoe Janne Sørensen says – It may well be that breastfeeding is a natural thing in life, but I feel like shit and really don’t want to look at it when I’m at the cafe, restaurant, etc..

– Nathalia Holm says – I think it belong at home home. I can accept it now, but I thoughts it was gross when I was younger. It belongs especially NOT in cafes and restaurants!

5 reasons to breastfeed in public

Fortunately there is also a lot of good good comments – here is my 5 reasons why breasfeeding in public is ok

  1. The baby needs food – will you starve a hungry baby?
  2. When a baby is hungry it crys (not exactly nice to listen to) – Feeding the baby stops the crying
  3. It is actually natural that mothers feed there children. It has always been like that -after all we are mammals
  4. Breastfeeding in public shows the world that breasts is not just a sexual part of the body.
  5. Do you also think it was wrong when your parents breasteeded you? Or when your grandparents breasfeeded your parents? Probably not!

What is your opinion? Do you have same problems in your country

Heidi Klum feels free when she is naked

Written by Peter Terp. Posted in Blog

The german supermodel has as a child been on manu naturist beaches with her parents. This has this has influenced her view of the naked body.

41 year old Heidi Klum says that she feels free when she is naked, and she is regulary topless when she are going to get some tanning on her body.
She also says that she hates light lines on an otherwise tabned body she says to US Weekly magazine

Nudist parents
Her clearly liberal view of nudity comes from her childhood, where her parents often dragged her to nudist beaches in Germany.
– People laugh when I say this, but I grew up taking on nudist beaches with my parents. It was very free. I threw the top, and I still do. I do not like stripes on my boobs, reports Heidi Klum.

I think it is nice to hear that a celebrity talks openly about naturism – I hope more people will do that 🙂

50 natural nordic women in the buff

Written by Peter Terp. Posted in Blog

Lena 30 Danish Fashion Photographer Søren Rønholt has created a photo project where 50 woman shows everything, without styling and makeup.

The problem
There is a constant exposure with beauty ideals which only the few can match. Many women try to live up to those ideals, which is nearly impossible. You need to have long thin legs, firm breasts, be skinny and somehow you need to find a miraculously way to stop aging. No wonder why so many has a problem with their own body image.

Something must be done
The ideal for beauty has moved so far away from reality, that Søren Røholt decided to do something about it. The photographer therefore started project Nordic women, where he photographed 50 Nordic women completely naked.

Søren Røholt says
– Women have even signed up for the project. When I arrived at their home, I did not know what they looked like. It is a broad spectrum of the population, and I would like to show their diversity.

During his work in the last 10 years he has seen the contrasts between everyday people and the people in magazines It is supernatural beauty ideals which is shown in the magazines. And supernatural is exactly what they are – all pictures has been digitized and photoshopped. Even “older models” seems to look young on the pictures when they have been manipulated.

In the real world where you and I live, women in all ages, they all have different shapes and sizes. That is also why Søren Rønholts pictures shows nordic women with stretch marks, cellulite, body hair and sagging breasts. All this is a natural part of a womans body.

My thoughts
Personally I think this is a really great initiative to show the world how we all look underneath our clothes. As a naturist I know that we all look different, and I appreciate it. If everyone looked the same it would be a boring world, don’t you think?

I hope there will be many more initiatives, there can set focus on the increasing problem with acceptance of our own bodies. The problem creates both obesity, anorexia, anxiety and a lot of plastic surgery which shouldn’t be done. The only people who benefits for this seems to be the business who sells plastic surgery.

You can find more about the project here Nordic Women

The photo was taken from Nordic Women and was shot by Søren Rønholt.

What frustrates the most as a naturist

Written by Peter Terp. Posted in Blog

frustratedI believe that everything in life has upsides and downsides – the same is of course the case for naturism, nudism, clothes free or whatever you choose to call people like me who like being nude.

In this blog post i will focus on the parts that frustrates me and apparently also other naturists. I believe that there are three key points that frustrates the most.

It seems to be hard for meny people to accept naturism, they think that a nude person intimidates their social sphere. They believe that naked people intimidate their sphere – and thus trespassing their private boundaries.

In reality, it probably tells more about the person than about naturism. It often seems like the people who fear the nudity the most is also the persons who is distancing the most from their inner self. They seem afraid to show who they really are and trapped in their own low selfesteem.

I would love if some of these people tried going to a naturist beach for a day, and stayed nude for a day together with other nude people. Soon they would discover that they would find much more inner peace and acceptance of who they are.

Sex focus

There is a huge misconception about people who love to be nude – a lot of people think that naturist/nudist etc. is all about sex. IT IS NOT about sex – I do like sex, but being nude has nothing about sex for me. It is about feeling free and enjoying being in my natural state.

I like being nude because it feels confortable and I enjoy being with naked people because being naked with people makes us all equal. We all have our assets and our flaws and that is actually ok – I actually like that.

When you are nude you have nothing to hide. This also shows, in the way that nude people interact with each other.

Hard to find places

Depending on where you live in the world, it can be really hard to find places where nudity is allowed. Some countries and states has none or nearly non nude places.

In Denmark it is actually legal to be nude on all beaches except a handfull or so. But that doesn’t mean it is accepted that you practice skinny dipping and a bare tan on the beach. That said it is actually easy to find a beach where it is accepted to go nude. The same can be said about Germany, France, Spain and Portugal – but if I take a look on Asia it is nearly impossible to find a place to go nude. My impression is that it is actually also not that easy to find spots to be naked in the US.

I have asked the question “As a naturist what frustrate you the most?” on Twitter, Google+ and Facebook. Many of you have said that it is frustrating that it is hard to find Clothing Optional or Naturist places. Places is either hard to find or is far away from where they live – that is frustrating.

That is also one of the reasons why I write posts on my blog about naturist places when I learn about them.

Some of the answers I got on Social Medias

I asked on Google+, Twitter and Facebook “As a naturist what frustrate you the most?”

Here are som of the answers:

  • People who think we are weird, because we bare all
  • the lack of places like swimming pools that have nude sessions
  • Lack of places such as parks with clothes-optional sunbathing
  • Not having a backyard. Any sunbathing must be done on a balcony.
  • The fact that a great number of people think that as soon as clothes are removed, we adopt a completely different set of morals
  • our inability to disabuse others of their mistaken ideas about nudity always equalling sex / perversion / swinging.
  • Not being able to be nude in my own yard.
  • Having to drive an hour to get to my closest resort. Also the general prudish nature og some people
  • Bad weather!!!

What frustrates you the most?

Why you need a social media free of censorship

Written by Peter Terp. Posted in Blog

censoredI have been banned on Facebook a several times because of indecent pictures according to Facebook. Google+ ban your account for similar reasons, and many other medias has a ban approach which is similar to what Facebook and Google+ does. This censorship really annoys me, especially because the censorship is imposed in a totally wrong way.

Freedom to choose for yourself

I don’t understand how a woman breastfeeding or breast cancer body paintings or 19th century art for that matter can be a target for censorship? I can’t understand how a bare bum or breast can be that dangerous that it has to be a target for censorship while violence and torture pictures is not a target of censorship.

It seems crazy, that Facebook and other social medias dictate what is okay and what is not. Why can’t you, me, all of us not decide for our selves what we think is okay to read/view and what we don’t think is okay to read/view. It is not like it is impossible to make a feature which makes it possible for you to point out, what you want to watch and what you don’t want to watch. It could actually be as easy as you have a button saying “I don’t want this kind of content” on all posts, then Facebook could analyse, what you want and what you don’t want. This must be possible! After all they have made it possible to pick out, which of your postings should be banned. Why shouldn’t you have the freedom to choose for yourself?

That all said, I want to give Twitter credit for walking against the stream. They have chosen to take a different approach to censorship. They don’t censor nude pictures, politics and other stuff. On Twitter you have the freedom to express yourself. I really think, that is a very good approach – and I would love if more social medias, would have the same approach to censorship.

There are some problems with Twitter though. Twitter is a very fast media, where expressing yourself concise and the messages will “drown” within a couple of hours, because so much information is floating. Twitter should have credit for many good things during it’s lifetime and will continue to do great things. What should be said i,s that it is a much different media than both Facebook and Google+. You can not express a deep thought message, that requires little more than 140 characters to explain.

Distorted reality

What does all this censorship give us? I think it gives us a culture of distorted reality!

Nudity is made equal to pornography when you censor pictures of naked people in non sexual situations.

Body images becomes bad when every image of a natural woman/man is censored. How should young people know, how a normal body looks like – if every picture of a naked body they see is censored. The alternative becomes watching pornograph (on other medias). I have nothing against pornography, but the participators in porn movies is casted, and yes, looks does matter in movies, as well as retouching and styling is a big part of it. This gives a wrong impression of how a body looks like.

Violence is much more accepted than nakedness. No wonder, why some people gets a distorted mind and do crazy stuff.

I find it tragicomic, that Facebook is a social media made on social relations, based on the trust people in between. But, the trust stops in the name of censorship. It seems like, that you, me and all other users are not trustworthy enough to choose for ourselves, what should be censored and what should not.

All thi,s and many other sideeffects of censorship will make a distorted reality for our young kids. A world, where a naked body is not okay, but violence is ok.

What I need

What we need, is a media, where you can express yourself in the same ways, that is possible on both Facebook and Google+, where I can choose to write, what I want and show the pictures that I want. All users of the media should have the possibilty to say: “I don’t want this kind of post on my wall”, and the social media should learn from my actions and don’t show me the post I don’t want to be shown

I want a Social media where I decide which content is appropriate for me and not what is appropriate for all people around the world.

There might be some content which is not for everyone. Then make a “Explicit content prompting” and make people choose for themselves. The free choice is not actually a choice on Facebook and other Social Medias, it is a choice from “dictatorship”,  where one “unit” decides, what all people should do. In this case we talk about “unit” which affects most of the western world.

Every time you make a post, you could decide if you thought the material was “Explicit content” and other people could mark the post, a person made, as “Explicit content”.

There are many great ideas  for what a great social media could look like, but in short terms – I just want a censor free Social Media. I am pretty sure, that if we can handle war, rape, hate, and violence, surely we can handle seeing a naked body too!

What do you think about censorship on Social Medias?
